Cambria have a very active Explorer Unit. We believe that Explorers is a time to take on new challenges amongst peers and achieve personal goals for example Night Time kayaking trips, Power Boating, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Expeditions, Camping and generally everything that Scouts offer but at a higher level, a faster pace or simply with new people, making new friends.
Our Explorers are part of the Cambria Group rather than operating at District level. This allows us to stay as a Sea Scout unit and to keep the distinctive blue shirts. We are a friendly group however and welcome older Dartford Scouts from anywhere in the district, including land Scouts and those who have never done any scouting.
Although the focus of our activities is on the water (see our Boating Page) we run a full programme of scouting activities with camping, expeditions, hiking and much more including the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The leaders work closely with all of the Explorers treating them as both individuals and as young adults and helping them get the most out of their time as an Explorer.
The Explorers meet alongside the Scouts on a Friday (currently at the Marsh Street HQ from 19:00hrs - see Contact Details) however they have their own program and activities. Each Explorer is encouraged to run elements of their program on their own or as a team and to take on more challenging activities and roles within the group.
If you are aged between 14 and 18 and want to join us on a Friday night then please contact Steve on 07966 274393 or CambriaSeaScouts@gmail.com.
